The Office of Counseling Services provides university students with individual and group assistance for adapting to stressful situations while attending DSU. The professional staff are trained to help with clinical issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, anger, trauma and alcohol and drug abuse. The Center also provides alcohol, and chemical dependency information, brochures, and treatment referrals. Other services include assistance for: adjusting to the university environment; resolving relationship issues with a roommate, professor, parents or significant other; choosing a vocation; selecting a major; and, solving personal, social and educational difficulties.

Our Mission:
The mission of Delta State University’s Accessibility Services is to provide reasonable accommodations to ensure that students with disabilities are afforded equal educational opportunities. ODS seeks to ensure that qualified students with disabilities are provided equal access while maintaining the integrity of the university. By providing direction, offering resources, and coordinating appropriate accommodations based on federal laws, regulations, and individual need(s), the department’s administration and staff encourage and support self-advocacy among students being served. Being student-centered in nature, the department strives to convey a vision for academic success and a goal of developing confident, independent, life-long student learners. Achieving reasonable accommodations for a student with a disability involves shared responsibility between the students, faculty, and staff.
How to Request Accommodations
STEP 1. Become admitted to the University.
STEP 2. Students should self-identify as a student with a qualified disability. You can do so by completing the accessibility services intake form, sending an email to ada@uupt.net, or call at 662-846-4690.
STEP 3. Complete the Accessibility Services Intake Form using the link provided, to obtain the accessibility services accommodation packet.
STEP 4. Submit documentation that supports your diagnosis and current need for accommodations. The documentation should come from a professional who is qualified to render the diagnosis, such as a psychometrist, psychologist, and/or medical doctor. Please note: This list is just an example and is not limited to other qualified professionals. Documentation should be current-no more than 3-5 years old.

STEP 6. Each semester, you will request approved accommodations by submitting a copy of your new course schedule to the Office of Accessibility Services.
STEP 7: You will meet with your instructors to discuss your needs in each class.

The Office of Health and Counseling Services provides outreach services to the students, staff, and faculty at Delta State University as well as the surrounding communities. Outreach efforts include but are not limited to the following:
